Mount Pleasant Veterinary Hospital - Tips to Feed Your Cat

Cats are very different from humans and dogs. And therefore, they need a special diet. Here’s what you should keep in mind while preparing your cat’s diet plan:

Don’t feed them onion, garlic, chocolates, raisins, sugary delights, alcohol, or caffeinated drinks no matter how cutely your cat looks at you. Even small doses of these can be dangerous for your cat.

Cats are carnivores. And so they need much more meat than humans. Along with that, they also need a properly moisturized diet. Hence, dry kibble is not the best idea to feed your cat all the time. First, because it contains too much plant-based protein and second, because it does not have enough water content.

Cats love fish. It’s okay to feed them cooked fish but not uncooked fish, because it can contain tapeworms. Also, they to feed herbivorous fishes like cod and halibut.

If you find your cats chomping on the houseplants, don’t get alarmed. It is normal for them to try to find fiber for their diet. However, you must remove the houseplants from their reach because they can be toxic. Give your cats some veggies -- like carrots, green beans, and broccoli -- to munch on. If your cat ingests something toxic, immediately contact a vet clinic.

Mount Pleasant Veterinary Group in Singapore has all facilities required for treating pet medical emergencies. You can contact them even after normal hours and even on public holidays in case of urgency.
